About us

The Fylde Concert Orchestra was formed seven years ago and consists of 24 amateur and semiprofessional players from the Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre area. We aim to give five or more concerts a year to support local fundraising events, offering a wide range of music from light classical to showtunes and jazz.
We also play for private functions (please contact us) which have recently included a celebratory dinner at the Savoy Hotel, Blackpool, organised by the local Royal Marines Association Women's Section. Held on St George's day, obvious inclusions were "Land of Hope and Glory", "Rule Britannia" and many others.
in 2007 we held a fundraising concert at Thornton Little Theatre which raised over £500 for Trinity Hospice. Thanks to all who helped, not least the superb audience who came to support.
Our music can be "themed" to suit any occasion - the orchestra's Christmas concerts are always a great success (contact us to arrange a Christmas Concert 2011!) and we gave an "Americana" 4th July concert at Fairhaven Methodist Church.
We even have hallowe'en music for that late October concert with a difference!
The orchestra is fortunate to have Brian Hughes LGSM as conductor, musical director and arranger, and leader Ronald White, ARCM.
